| PRODUCT | TYPE | FLOW | RATING |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refrigerated Air Dryer | Non-Cycling, previous generation | 5 to 50 SCFM | 250 psig / 120°F inlet |
The HPR Series was the small plug-in non-cycling dryer for 1 to 10 hp compressors: five sizes from 5 to 50 SCFM, all on 115 V, all charged with R-134a, built around a smooth-bore copper tube-on-tube exchanger with a centrifugal separator ahead of the drain. It is the previous generation. New orders are filled from the HPRB Series size for size, and the HPR part numbers stay on this site so an old nameplate can be matched to its current replacement in one step. The rating data below is the original, kept for that comparison.
How the replacement lines up. HPR5-10 goes to the HPRB11-A and HPR15 to the HPRB15-A, in a 45 lb cabinet instead of 64 to 69 lb; HPR25 to the HPRB25-A, HPR35 to the HPRB42-A, HPR50 to the HPRB50-A; R-134a gives way to low-GWP R513A; the 115 V plug and the 38°F dew point stay the same; Connections change to 3/8 in MNPT and 1/2 in FNPT, so budget a pair of adapters.
Matching an old HPR nameplate. The model number is the rated flow: an HPR35 is a 35 SCFM unit at 100 psig and 100°F inlet; If the compressor has been upsized since the dryer was bought, resize from horsepower rather than copying the old number; A single-body bypass valve sized for 5 to 35 SCFM lets the old dryer come out and the new one go in without stopping the shop.
| Part Number | SCFM | Connection | Voltage | Power | Dimensions (in) | Weight (lb) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HPR5-10 | 5 | 3/8 in OD tube | 115/1/60 | 0.2 kW | 15 x 13 x 13 | 64 |
| HPR15 | 15 | 3/8 in OD tube | 115/1/60 | 0.24 kW | 15 x 13 x 13 | 69 |
| HPR25 | 25 | 3/4 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 0.41 kW | 22 x 16 x 15 | 88 |
| HPR35 | 35 | 3/4 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 0.46 kW | 22 x 16 x 15 | 92 |
| HPR50 | 50 | 3/4 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 0.57 kW | 22 x 20 x 20 | 101 |
Flows are at 100 psig, 100°F inlet and 100°F ambient; the HPR5-10 was a dual-rated unit and is listed at its 5 SCFM nameplate value. These part numbers are the previous generation; new orders are supplied from the HPRB Series, which is the direct replacement.
Three cabinet sizes across five models, every one on 115 V single phase.
The HPR5-10 and HPR15 share a 15 x 13 x 13 in cabinet at 64 and 69 lb, with 3/8 in OD tube connections meant for compression fittings on the compressor side. The HPR25 and HPR35 step up to 22 x 16 x 15 in at 88 and 92 lb, and the HPR50 to 22 x 20 x 20 in at 101 lb; those three carry 3/4 in NPT connections. No size draws more than 0.57 kW, so all of them ran from a standard wall outlet.
When an HPRB replacement goes in, expect a lighter and slightly smaller cabinet with different ports: 3/8 in MNPT on the 7 to 15 SCFM units and 1/2 in FNPT on the 25 to 50 SCFM units. Two adapters and a fresh drain line are usually the only piping changes. Keep 12 in of clear air around the condenser grille and run the drain to a separator or a floor drain rather than letting it pool behind the compressor.
The outline shown is representative of the small cabinet; send us the model on the nameplate and the replacement drawing comes back with the quote.
