Built for 725 psig blow-molding air

Stainless exchangers on a hermetic refrigeration circuit

The HPET Series was the 725 psig refrigerated dryer for PET bottle blow-molding and other 40 to 50 bar air systems: fourteen sizes from 30 to 3,000 SCFM, each named for the horsepower of its refrigeration compressor, with 316 stainless steel brazed-plate exchangers, a hermetically sealed refrigeration circuit and a filter-separator with a timed electric drain. Air-cooled and water-cooled condensers were offered, on 115 V single phase through 200 SCFM and 460 V three phase above. It is the previous generation. Replacements ship from the HHPR Series size for size, and the HPET part numbers stay listed here so an old dryer can be matched to its current equivalent.

How the HHPR takes over. HPET-0.5 at 165 SCFM goes to the HHPR-200, HPET-1.0 at 300 to the HHPR-300, HPET-2.5 at 750 to the HHPR-750, HPET-7.5 at 2,000 to the HHPR-2000; The three smallest HPET sizes, 30 to 95 SCFM, are covered by the HHPR-115, the smallest current size; The HPET-10 at 3,000 SCFM is matched to the HHPR-2400 on corrected flow or to two dryers in parallel; Working pressure changes from 725 to 680 psig, which still covers the 40 bar (580 psig) blow-molding standard.

Cross-referencing an HPET. Read the flow from the table above, not from the model number, since the number is compressor horsepower; Confirm the line pressure: the HHPR is rated 680 psig, so a system that runs at 700 psig or more needs a different answer; Match the HHPR at or above the flow, and note that the small sizes move to a solenoid drain and the large sizes to Class 300 flanges.

Cabinets and connections by size

Four cabinet groups from a 95 lb bench unit to a 1,329 lb floor cabinet.

The HPET-0.17 through HPET-0.33, 30 to 95 SCFM, share a 26 x 18 x 21 in cabinet at 95 lb with 1/2 in NPT connections on 115 V. The HPET-0.5 and HPET-0.75 at 165 and 200 SCFM are 37.6 x 25.6 x 19.6 in at 251 and 279 lb on 1-1/2 in NPT, available in 115 V or 208 to 230 V single phase. The HPET-1.0 and HPET-1.5 are 38.6 x 32.2 x 32.2 in at 425 and 463 lb, and the HPET-2.5 and HPET-3.5 are 58.1 x 32.2 x 41.6 in at 691 and 734 lb, all on 1-1/2 in NPT and 460 V.

The four largest, 1,250 to 3,000 SCFM, share a 59 x 52 x 52 in cabinet at 889 to 1,329 lb with 3 in NPT connections. Pressure drop ran from 1.7 psid on the 165 SCFM unit to 6.2 psid on the 1,750. When an HHPR replaces one of these, check the connections: the current line uses male NPT through 600 SCFM and Class 300 raised-face flanges from 750 SCFM up, so a flanged spool or an adapter is usually part of the swap on the larger sizes.

The outline above is the HPET cabinet; the HHPR drawing for the replacement size comes with the quote.
