| PRODUCT | TYPE | FLOW | RATING |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refrigerated Air Dryer | High Inlet Temperature, previous generation | 20 to 125 SCFM | 227 psig / 180°F inlet |
The HITN Series was the dryer for a small piston compressor with no aftercooler, rated to take 180°F air straight off the discharge: six sizes from 20 to 125 SCFM with a hermetic refrigeration circuit, stainless steel brazed-plate exchangers and a two-stage separator ahead of the chiller to knock the water out of hot, wet air before it is cooled. All but the largest run on 115 V. It is the previous generation. New orders are filled from the HRHT Series, rated for 200°F inlet, size for size, and the HITN part numbers stay listed here so an old unit can be matched to its replacement.
The replacement: HRHT at 200°F. Every HITN size to 75 SCFM maps to an HRHT of the same or next rating: HITN25 to HRHT25A, HITN50 to HRHT60A, HITN75 to HRHT80A; The 200°F inlet rating of the HRHT covers a compressor that runs hotter than the HITN was designed for; All five HRHT sizes are 115 V; the 230 V HITN125 is matched on corrected flow to the HRHT100A or to the 125 SCFM size of the HTR Series; R513A refrigerant in place of R-134a and R-407C, with a zero-loss drain in place of the timed drain.
Matching a HITN nameplate. The model number is the flow at 180°F inlet: a HITN35 handled a 10 hp piston compressor at 35 SCFM; If the compressor discharge now runs above 180°F, the 200°F rating of the HRHT is a reason to change rather than simply replace; A high-temperature prefilter rated for hot air belongs ahead of either dryer when the compressor has no aftercooler.
| Part Number | SCFM | Connection | Voltage | Power | Dimensions (in) | Weight (lb) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HITN20 | 20 | 3/4 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 0.69 kW | 29 x 14 x 17 | 100 |
| HITN25 | 25 | 3/4 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 0.69 kW | 29 x 14 x 17 | 100 |
| HITN35 | 35 | 3/4 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 0.99 kW | 29 x 14 x 17 | 106 |
| HITN50 | 50 | 1 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 0.83 kW | 41 x 18 x 17 | 125 |
| HITN75 | 75 | 1 in NPT | 115/1/60 | 1.13 kW | 41 x 18 x 17 | 130 |
| HITN125 | 125 | 1 in NPT | 230/1/60 | 1.97 kW | 46 x 18 x 17 | 153 |
Flows are at the high-temperature rating point of 180°F inlet, 125 psig and 100°F ambient rather than the 100°F standard used for other dryers, so a 50 SCFM HITN handled a 50 SCFM piston compressor with no derating. These part numbers are the previous generation; new orders are supplied from the HRHT Series, which is the direct replacement.
Sized to stand beside a small piston compressor.
The HITN20, HITN25 and HITN35 share a 29 x 14 x 17 in cabinet at 100 to 106 lb with 3/4 in NPT connections. The HITN50 and HITN75 are 41 x 18 x 17 in at 125 and 130 lb, and the HITN125 is 46 x 18 x 17 in at 153 lb; those three carry 1 in NPT. The condenser fan is on top, so the cabinet needs headroom rather than side clearance, and the base rail is pre-drilled for anchoring to the floor next to the compressor.
The HRHT replacements are close in size: the HRHT35A is 29.7 x 14.6 x 16.9 in at 117 lb and the 60 to 100 SCFM units are 30.0 x 16.6 x 22.4 in at 123 to 132 lb, all on 3/4 in or 1 in NPT. Because the air arrives hot, keep the run from the compressor to the dryer short and fit a high-temperature prefilter on it; pipe both drains to a condensate separator, and keep the room under 110°F.
