Features

  • The exchanger mass stores the cold, so there is no glycol to circulate, no pump and no reservoir to leak
  • No hot-gas bypass valve: the compressor simply stops when the mass is charged and restarts when the outlet warms

The exchanger is the thermal mass

Dual-transfer heat exchanger with no glycol loop and no bypass valve

The NXC Series is a cycling dryer with no glycol and no hot-gas bypass: the heat exchanger itself is the thermal mass, chilled while the refrigeration compressor runs and drawn down while it rests, so at reduced load the compressor cycles off and the power saving reaches 80 percent. Nineteen sizes cover 20 to 2,000 SCFM, four of them built in both 230 V single-phase and 460 V three-phase versions, on 115 V through 165 SCFM. Wide air passages resist clogging, the microprocessor shows the dew point on an LED display and includes a drain test, and the 158°F inlet rating leaves margin for a hot aftercooler.

Controls, voltages and connections. Microprocessor control with a digital LED dew point display and a drain test button on the panel; 115 V single phase through 165 SCFM; the 200, 265, 325 and 400 SCFM sizes come in 230 V single-phase or 460 V three-phase builds; The 230 V builds run R407C and draw slightly more power than their 460 V R134a twins; NPT connections from 1/2 in through 3 in, 4 in flanges on the 1,600 and 2,000 SCFM units.

Two builds for one flow. A shop with only single-phase power can run up to 400 SCFM on the 230 V build; a plant with 460 V three phase gets the lower-draw R134a version; The NXC 0400 draws 1.76 kW at 230 V and 1.52 kW at 460 V, so the three-phase unit is the one to specify where the supply exists; The TMC Series is the newer small cycling dryer through 635 SCFM; above that the NXC carries the cycling range to 2,000 SCFM.

Cabinets and connections from 20 to 2,000 SCFM

Nine cabinet sizes; the 200 to 400 SCFM builds share one.

The NXC 0020 is a 22 x 17 x 16 in unit at 82 lb on 1/2 in NPT; the 30 and 45 SCFM units are 26 x 18 x 18 in at 106 to 112 lb on 3/4 in; the 65 to 110 SCFM units are 30 x 23 x 21 in at about 200 lb on 1 in; and the 130 and 165 SCFM units are 37 x 29 x 24 in at 291 to 302 lb on 1-1/2 in NPT. All eight 200 to 400 SCFM builds share a 38.7 x 29.1 x 29.9 in cabinet at 386 to 408 lb with 2 in NPT connections.

The 500 SCFM unit is 47 x 29 x 42 in at 539 lb on 2-1/2 in NPT. From 650 SCFM the cabinet is 59 in tall: 29 in wide and 61 in deep for the 650 and 850 at 961 to 992 lb, 44 in wide and 56 in deep for the 1,050 and 1,300 at 1,159 to 1,195 lb, and 44 x 74 in for the 1,600 and 2,000 SCFM units at 1,586 to 1,635 lb on 4 in flanges. Every size is air-cooled; keep the condenser face clear and the room inside the ambient range, and route the drain to a condensate treatment unit.
