The 530 Series is a timer drain: a NEMA 4 timer with knobs for open time and interval, a test button and a 6 ft cord, driving a solenoid valve. The 531-02-175 is the economy direct-acting valve with a 1/8 in orifice for 175 psig. The 532-03-300 and 532-04-300 use a piloted diaphragm valve with a 7/16 in orifice that passes particles to 1/2 in, at 300 psig, and the 532-02-1500 is direct acting for 1,500 psig receivers. The 600 Series demand drain is the zero-loss alternative: a level sensor opens the valve only when the chamber is full and shuts it before air escapes.
600 Series: the electric drain that vents no air. Capacitive sensor reads the condensate level in the chamber; there is no float to stick in oily water; Pilot-operated valve opens just long enough to push the condensate out and shuts before the chamber empties of liquid; 12 to 230 psig on 1/2 in NPT, IP67 housing, tolerant of standard compressor lubricants; 115 VAC or 24 VAC supply; the counterpart to the electronic level drains in the other drain line here.
Timer or demand: the same decision every time. A receiver that sees rusty condensate from an old piston compressor takes the 532 with its 7/16 in orifice; a float drain would jam; A compressor that runs one shift can afford a timer; one that runs around the clock pays for a 600 Series demand drain in vented air; High-pressure receivers on breathing-air and test systems take the 532-02-1500, the one drain here rated for them.

Ratings are maximum working pressure; the trailing -1 or -2 selects 115 V or 230 V, and the 1,500 psig model ships without a strainer so nothing upstream of its 3/64 in orifice can plug.

The valve threads onto the lowest drain port of the receiver, separator or dryer on a short nipple, with an isolation ball valve ahead of it so the drain can be serviced under pressure and the strainer cleaned. Mount the valve with the coil up and the timer box above the drip line; the NEMA 4 enclosure sheds water but should not sit in it. The 531 at 3 lb and the 532 at 4 lb hang on the pipe without support. On a dryer, the drain goes on the separator outlet, which is where the earlier 75 to 1,200 SCFM non-cycling dryers carried this same type of drain.
Run the discharge downhill in pipe or metal tube to an oil-water separator; each cycle ends with a burst of air at line pressure that will empty an open bucket. Plug the 6 ft cord into a receptacle at the model voltage. The 600 Series demand drain mounts upright with its 1/2 in inlet at or below the vessel drain point and the sensor vertical, and where the vessel is tall enough a balance line to the air space keeps it filling under full pressure.
