One valve instead of three
Isolate the dryer for service without stopping the air
The 1701 is a single-body bypass valve for a small refrigerated dryer or filter. One handle does the work of three ball valves and their tees: turn it and the dryer is isolated for service while air keeps flowing. Three versions share a brass and nylon body with 3/8 in tube fittings toward the dryer and 3/8 in NPT toward the line. The 1701-1 is the non-bleed type and leaves the isolated dryer under pressure; the 1701-3 and the earlier 1701-2 are bleed types that vent it in bypass. Rated 200 psig and 120°F, 5 to 35 SCFM. Bracket kits for the small dryers and filter housings are listed with it.

1701 Bypass Valves & Mounting Brackets Applications
Dimensions and mounting
A 4-5/8 x 3-1/4 x 2 in body in the line ahead of the dryer, tubes to the dryer, pipe to the shop.
The valve body sits in the supply line at the dryer, with the 3/8 in NPT ports toward the compressor and the shop and the two 3/8 in tube fittings toward the dryer inlet and outlet. The tubes run short and direct to the dryer connections on the back panel; keep them free of tight bends so the ferrules seal square. Mount the body where the handle can be reached with the dryer in place, and label the handle positions, because a dryer left in bypass for a month is the usual reason a shop suddenly has water in the lines.
On a bleed valve, the orifice vents the isolated dryer to the room when the handle goes to bypass; point it away from the technician and away from the electrical panel. The dryer brackets fasten to the back of the cabinet and hang it on the wall with the condenser grille clear of the wall by the depth of the bracket; leave 12 in above and behind for air. The filter brackets bolt to the filter head, and the housing then hangs with its bowl clear of the wall for element changes.
